How Strong Are Magnetic Trailer Hitch Holders?

The short answer: strong enough to hold your hitch through highway speeds, rough roads, and daily driving without moving.

The Mag Hitch Pro uses three 120-lb neodymium magnets for a combined 360-lb magnetic hold on flat steel surfaces. The HD version for 2.5” hitches uses four magnets for even greater holding power.

These aren’t refrigerator magnets. Neodymium magnets are the strongest permanent magnets available commercially. Each one is bolted — not glued — into a molded nut trap in the holder body. That means they won’t pop out, won’t shift, and can be individually replaced in the field with no special tools if needed.

Real world test: The Mag Hitch Pro was run for a full week with a loaded draw hitch on daily driving including highway speeds and unpaved roads. Zero movement.

What affects holding strength:

• Surface must be flat steel — curved or textured surfaces reduce contact

• Keep magnet faces and bed wall clean and dry for maximum grip

• Extremely thick spray-in liners may reduce holding power

For most steel truck beds, the Mag Hitch Pro holds rock solid in every condition you’ll encounter on the road.
